cows and final days

Among lots of other things, I have been hard at work this week on The Cattle Campaign.  Maybe a cow is just what you wanted for Christmas. :) 

Yesterday I visited Kitui.  Met Eric who sunk a borehole on his father's property, and has done an amazing job cultivating the land.  He has three greenhouses, and the tomatoes and peppers are thriving!  He has cows and mangoes and paw paw that we call papaya.  They are revolutionizing the way their entire area does farming, and it was quite a learning...

plan b.

Last week was about Plan B.  The best thing you can bring on a trip like this is flexibility.  Not the doing the splits kind but the go with the flow kind.  The government arrived in pekot, where we were supposed to spend our week, to disarm the people of the guns they have to prevent cattle rustling.  No Pekot for us.

We visited two projects of HACA’s, one in Thicka and one in the Kibera slum.    In Thicka we saw an amazing example of a well run center for orphans.  The place is now mostly ...
